Many
Central Barter members have traveled to New Orleans and enjoyed using trade to
pay for hotels, restaurants and entertainment.
Our fellow trade exchanges, Crescent City Trade in New Orleans, Louisiana Trade
(The ITEX office) in Lafayette, and North Louisiana Trade Exchange in Monroe
have always gone above and beyond to accommodate our clients. Now they need our
help - and yours. Central Barter has set up an Emergency Relief Fund to help
our friends and their clients, when they are able to get back into their offices
and homes. While your cash donations are certainly needed - trade dollars will
go a long way to help them rebuild offices and homes that are still under
water. Central Barter has set up an account for your trade dollar donations
(Hurricane Katrina Donations). As soon as they are able to use it, the trade
will be transferred to New Orleans through our national network. Please email
or fax a trade draft to 713-339-4675 with the amount you would like to give.

As we continue
to grow it becomes much more important to have your trade drafts with you when
you make a purchase. If you go to the dentist, eye doctor, flower shop or any
other member, it is up to you to take a trade draft. When someone comes to you,
you expect payment before they leave, and it works both ways.
The same goes
if you are having a service provided at your home or business, such as air
conditioning service, carpet cleaning or anything else. It is your
responsibility to have a trade draft, and the cash payment for tax etc. It is
unreasonable to ask the service provider to come back for payment. If you are
not going to be present the payment needs to be left with whom ever will be
available at the location.

is the same as a bank, order your new trade drafts before the old ones are gone

We are in the process of setting up a deal where we will be able to purchase restaurant certificates for $6.95 cash and $18.05 trade for a $25.00 certificate. These certificates are available for many restaurants in the Houston area, and across the country. I hesitated for quite awhile to do this because of the cash component, however all the members I have talked to say that it is better than nothing. As always, if we don’t like the deal we don’t have to buy them.
